Bharatiya Janata Party MP Manoj Tiwari has denied reports that he along with other party leader went to AAP leader Kumar Vishvas's house and offered him to be BJP's chief ministerial candidate.
"I am no one to offer CM seat to anyone," he said.
"We were friends but when thoughts changed and parties changed we never met like friends. I have never discussed any such thing," he said.
Kumar Vishvas made a sensational claim that the BJP, some months ago, asked him to be the party's chief ministerial candidate in Delhi.
"On 19 May, a BJP MP came to my house. He is an old friend. I thought he came to give me a courtesy call, but he offered me to join the BJP. He said he would make me the party's candidate for the chief minister's post," Vishvas told Aaj Tak.
"When I said I was not an MLA, he said I would be elected in the bypoll," Vishvas said.
Vishvas said he immediately told party convener Arvind Kejriwal about the offer.
However, Vishvas said it was a friendly meeting and he never took the offer seriously. He refused to name to the mp.
Here are five ways:
1) Dividends: When you buy stocks, you are purchasing a portion of the company. Any growth in a company, whose stock you hold, will indirectly benefit you as an investor. This is because, the value of the stock will also increase. But that is not the only source of returns from shares. Listed companies distribute a portion of their profits to shareholders regularly as dividends. This can be either on quarterly, half-yearly or annual basis. Sometimes, after a company has extra cash reserves, it could even announce a surprise bonus dividend. As a result, it can be a source of regular income to investors. Moreover, they are not taxed.
2) Dog stocks: Usually, there is an increase in buying of companies paying high dividends around September, just before the distribution of the money. They are identified using the dividend-yield – calculated by dividing the dividend by the share price. However, such stocks must be chosen wisely as the dividend yield could be higher because of a fall in the stock price. This could be an indicator of market’s lack of confidence in the company and may be a red flag. As a result, it is better to opt for stocks with a consistently high dividend-yield. They are called dog stocks.
3) MF dividends: Many mutual funds also have an annual dividend-payout option. This may come handy in bear market conditions. However, MF dividends are not assured. Moreover, when a mutual fund announces a dividend of say Rs 2, its NAV will fall by the same amount the next day.
4) Systematic Withdrawal Plan: Many mutual funds also allow a Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP) option. Under this scheme, a fixed amount of MF units will be sold on a particular day every month or quarter. This is just the opposite of the Systematic Investment Plan (SIP). However, it is better to opt for this atleast a year after purchasing the funds to avoid any exit fees.
5) MF monthly income plans: Various mutual funds invest in both equity as well as fixed-income instruments like bonds and corporate debentures. There are also schemes which invest only in debt instruments. These funds are designed to provide regular source of income. These funds are less risky than equity schemes. However, they also have a lower capacity for capital appreciation.
WASHINGTON: The actual number of full-time Indian students in the US exceeds existing estimates by a huge margin. So far, it was assumed on the basis of an earlier study that there were 100,000 F-1 Indian visa holders in the US. A recent report by a Washington DC think tank puts this number at 168,034. India ranks second only to China in the list of 74 nations with a large number of F-1 visa holders.
The report on foreign student population in the US, published by Brookings Institution for the period 2008-2012, offers some remarkable insights on India. For instance, Hyderabad was issued 26,220 F-1 visas, almost as many as Mumbai (17,294), Pune (5,551) and Delhi (8,728) put together. In fact, there are more students in the US from (undivided) Andhra Pradesh than any other state in India. Chennai (9,141) and Bangalore (8,835) are running neck and neck.
The outlier here is Kolkata, which was issued only 3,881 F-1s. But here is the twist in the tale. While most Indian students from other cities came to the US for their master's degree, 44% of Kolkatans came for their doctorate. For Hyderabad, the comparable percentage of doctoral students was only 5%, for Chennai 14%. This could suggest a sound master's programme in West Bengal.
Engineering top choice of Indian student
The study also shows that two-thirds of foreign students are studying STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or business, management and marketing fields, compared to 48% of US students. At 70%, STEM preference is particularly pronounced among Indians students. In this list, engineering tops, followed by computer, information sciences and support services; business, management, marketing, and related support services; biological and biomedical sciences; and health professions and related programmes.
The Brookings report sees the foreign student inflow as an economic bonanza for the US that Washington and local metropolises should capitalize on. It is easy to see why — Indian students, for instance, ponied up more than $5 billion in the 2008-2012 period to study in the US ($3.1 billion in tuition fees and $2 billion in living expenses) with students from Hyderabad and Mumbai coughing up $650 million (tab from each city).

It is no secret that US institutions crave for foreign students because of the money, brains, and prestige they bring. The report suggests several measures to maximize the benefits of the full benefit of foreign students' local presence. "Foreign students," it reasons, "offer valuable knowledge of the business, cultural and societal norms of their city and country of origin and so can serve as a bridge to help globalize local economies."
The report throws up other interesting facts about the Asian craze for a US education. Bangladesh (5,319), for instance, has almost as many students in the US as Pakistan (5,767) but that could be because of strict visa controls that apply to the latter. The real surprise, however, is Nepal, which got nearly 20,000 F-1 visas, compared to Sri Lanka's 4,113. Another surprise is Iran with 9,611 F-1s compared to Israel's 4,588.
Lapping up this munificence from foreign students are 118 metro areas in the US that the Brookings report assessed as having the largest numbers of foreign students and while measuring their monetary contributions to their economy. New York and Honolulu had the highest percentage (75%) of graduates working for a local employer. Seattle, Miami, and Las Vegas also ranked high for students who remained in their areas to work after graduating.

While large population centers, such as New York and Los Angeles, have high numbers of foreign students, small or mid-sized metro areas that are home to large universities have the most significant concentrations of these students. Ithaca, New York (home to Cornell University) tops the list with 71.2 F-1 students per 1,000, compared to 22.4 for the nation as a whole. Boston, Massachusetts and Santa Barbara, California also rank at the top of the list.
University of Southern California, Columbia University in NYC, and University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign (jocularly referred to as University of Indians and University of Chinese) were the magnets for foreign students, each taking in around 13,000 F-1 visa holders. NYU, City University of New York (CUNY) and Purdue hosted around 11,000 each. While this data suggests that foreign students typically flock to metropolises, the foreign student inflow is also a boon to small university towns such as Lafayette and Bloomington in Indiana and Durham and Chapel Hill in North Carolina.

The report offers a two-pronged approach to help metropolitan leaders make the best of their heavy foreign student population. It suggests leveraging foreign student connections with their home communities abroad to facilitate and deepen economic exchange. It also advocates the following: developing programmes to connect graduates to employers located in the school's metropolitan area, helping local employers obtain the necessary visas for foreign graduates with in-demand skills and advocating for immigration reform to make more visas available for graduates who want to stay in the US.
"Increasingly, US colleges and universities are educating the world's business, scientific and political leaders of the future. Metropolitan leaders should capitalize on this trend to strengthen their position in the global marketplace by giving local employers access to a larger pool of workers with valuable skills and knowledge already living in their areas," says Neil Ruiz, associate fellow for the Brookings Metropolitan Policy Program and author of the report.

Facebook is testing using keywords to find old posts, the California-based company said in an email response to an AFP inquiry.
Search results remain true to sharing settings used when posts were made, meaning people are only shown content they are permitted to see, according to Facebook.
Facebook early last year launched Graph Search that helps members using desktop computers or laptops better navigate the vast amount of information at the social network, which is not available on search engines such as Google.
The feature was introduced as a work-in-progress and has yet to spread to all of the social networks 1.3 billion users.
Facebook emphasized that Graph Search is focused on information archived within the network and not designed to compete with the kinds of general online queries tackled by Google.

दिल्ली के सत्ता के गलियारों में यह अफवाह राजनीतिक चर्चा में सुबह से ही आ गयी थी . उम्मीद यह थी कि सभी टी वी चैनलों में शाम छः बजे से चर्चा इसी विषय पर होगी लेकिन उनकी योजना धरी की धरी रह गयी . दो बजे के पहले ही प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय से बयान आ गया . उस बयान ने अफवाह के प्रायोजकों पर मर्मान्तक वार किया . अभी उस बयान से पैदा हुए घाव को लोग चाट ही रहे थे तब तक भारतीय जनता पार्टी के अध्यक्ष ,अमित शाह की तरफ से भी एक बयान जारी हो गया .अमित शाह ने कहा कि जहां तक राजनाथ सिंह का सवाल है, वह हमारे सबसे वरिष्ठ मंत्री हैं। मैं अफवाहों की कड़ी निंदा करता हूं और व्यक्तिगत रूप से आहत महसूस करता हूं। बीजेपी अध्यक्ष ने कहा कि राजनाथ सिंह का राजनीतिक जीवन शालीनता, विनम्रता और पवित्रता का प्रतीक है। उनके खिलाफ आरोप निराधार, असत्य हैं और पार्टी की छवि खराब करने के इरादे से लगाए गए हैं। उन्होंने यह भी दावा किया कि यह तरीका अपनाने वालों को पता होना चाहिए कि वे मोदी सरकार के विकास के एजेंडे को भटकाने में सफल नहीं हो पायेगें .

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a five-day visit to Japan, a country that in his words offers “immense scope for cooperation”.
The fact that Modi chose Japan for his first bilateral trip outside the subcontinent is indicative of the importance he imparts to further deepening of relationship between Asia's second and third largest economies.
The Prime Minister reached out directly to the 127 million people of Japan by tweeting in Japanese. "Japan's friendship with India is time tested. We are 2(sic) vibrant democracies committed to advancing peace and democracy in the world," Modi tweeted, yesterday.
"The Japan visit is an opportunity to take our ties to a new level and increase cooperation in various fields," Modi said.
Although both the nations share a historic relationship, Modi's ascendency to power has completely changed the contours of the ties given his long-standing warm relationship with his counterpart Shinzo Abe.
Modi had visited Japan twice when he was Gujarat chief minister and met Abe on both occasions. Both were impressed of the other, leading to the start of a relationship based on mutual admiration.
Modi and Abe's politics also has many common aspects. Both are nationalists, strong leaders who are dedicated to bring their economies back on track of high growth.
In fact one of Modi's tweet was meant for his host Abe, who follows just three people in his Twitter account -- Modi being one of them.
"Am particularly excited to meet PM Abe. I deeply respect his leadership and enjoy a warm relationship with him from previous meetings," Modi said, sending out his personal "konnichiwa" or greetings.
"Have very warm memories of visiting Japan as (Gujarat) CM. The hospitality and the immense scope for cooperation left a deep impression in my mind."
Modi will begin his five-day visit - Aug 30 till Sep 3- from Kyoto, where he will be received by Abe.
The Japanese PM will host a dinner for the visiting dignitary.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said Kyoto was added to the schedule as it "represents confluence of the civilisational heritage of India and Japan through Buddhism".
"Kyoto is a magnificent example of how a city can maintain its cultural heritage and modernise itself at the same time.”
"It also dovetails how smart cities can be environment-friendly, modernise itself with cutting-edge technology and retain its cultural significance. All these three elements are part of Modi's vision," he added.
Modi would be keen to learn from the Kyoto success as he has big plans to modernise cultural hotspots like Varanasi and Amritsar.
The Tokyo leg of his visit would begin with an official welcome at a ceremony in Akasaka Palace Sep 1.
With building of business ties being on top of the agenda, Modi is, reportedly, taking along a high-level business delegation comprising of who's who of India Inc.
Among those who are reportedly part of the delegation are Mukesh Ambani, Gautam Adani, Dilip Shanghvi, Azim Premji, Chanda Kochhar, S Ramadorai and Kiran Mazumdar Shaw.
Trade between the two countries has steadily increased over the past few years leading to a free trade pact in 2011.
Though Japan remains one of the largest investors in India and has supported big infrastructure projects like the Delhi-Mumbai infrastructure corridor and metro rail, Modi would want to attract more investments, especially in manufacturing.
Japanese companies have invested heavily in China, and if some of this money were to flow into India it would help hasten the pace of economic revival.
Seeking Japanese investment in new high-speed train networks will also be key priority.
One of the biggest items on the talks agenda is a civilian nuclear deal, which has been stuck given Tokyo's concerns on nuclear proliferation. The country has gone through difficult times through its history - atom bombs in World War II to the recent Fukushima disaster.
While it appears implausible that the deal can be finalised during the visit, the warmth in Modi-Abe relationship may help in removing the frost.
India is also keen on going a step further in defence cooperation between the two countries. India wants to buy amphibious search-and-rescue planes for its Navy, any forward movement on the matter will be a success.
The geo-strategic significance of Modi's visit is immense given the growing discomfort in Japan over China's blatant efforts to dominate the region.
Japan, India and the US have been holding joint military exercises in China's backyard but Modi would have to tread a thin line that would see India and Japan deepening their strategic partnership without displeasing Beijing on key concerns.

“After the gruels of character acts in the film shoot, there is reality in television and the switching over of temperament and thought and act and every other action that must necessarily be away from the one enacted before.

the first of two
unmanned Global Hawk aircraft landed at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in
Wallops Island, Virginia, on Aug. 27 after surveying Hurricane Cristobal for
the first science flight of NASA's latest hurricane airborne mission.
NASA's airborne Hurricane and Severe
Storm Sentinel, or HS3, mission returns to NASA Wallops for the third year to
investigate the processes that underlie hurricane formation and intensity
change in the Atlantic Ocean basin. HS3 is a collaborative effort that brings
together several NASA centers with federal and university partners.

in HS3 are based at NASA's Armstrong Flight Research
Center at Edwards Air Base, California, but will be temporarily housed at NASA Wallops for the duration of the HS3 mission
which runs through Sept. 29. That window for the mission coincides with the
peak of the Atlantic hurricane season that runs from June 1 to Nov. 30.
NASA Global Hawk 872 departed NASA
Armstrong on the morning of Aug. 26 and arrived at NASA Wallops at 7:43 a.m.
EDT on Aug. 27. Global Hawk number 871 is scheduled to fly to Wallops within a
week.

Tropical
Storm Cristobal became a hurricane late on August 25 as it was moving through
the Bahamas. During the Global Hawk's 22 hour mission it flew a
"lawnmower" or back and forth pattern over Hurricane Cristobal whilegathering data using dropsondes and two other instruments. There were 83dropsondes loaded in the aircraft, with two of them were dropped over the Gulf
of Mexico and the other 81 dropsondes dropped over Cristobal. A dropsonde
is a device that measures winds, temperature, pressure and humidity as it falls
from the aircraft to the surface.
“The instruments are tested and then
integrated onto each Global Hawk at Armstrong,” said Marilyn Vasques, HS3
Project Manager of NASA Ames. Before the cross-country flights, the ground
operations center at Wallops tested the various instruments aboard both
aircraft while they were still at Armstrong. “After integration and outdoor
tests we conduct a Combined Systems Test on the ground as well as a test flight
near Armstrong before the instruments and aircraft are ready to transit”
explained Vasques. Checking the performance of the instruments over that long
distance while they were at a NASA center was critical to ensure they would
operate correctly while in-flight over Atlantic hurricanes.
Now that the first Global Hawk is at
Wallops, the mission will investigate any significant disturbances that might
develop in the western Atlantic. The HS3 mission will investigate disturbances
before they become depressions to examine how a storm forms. The mission is
also looking for conditions that favor (or promote) rapid intensification of
tropical cyclones.
"Twice a day we hold weather
briefings looking for storms or disturbances that could become storms,"
said Scott Braun, HS3 Principal Investigator from NASA's Goddard Space Flight
Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, working at Wallops during the mission. "We
evaluate the targets in terms of our science objectives and determine which one
best addresses those objectives. We factor in stage of the life cycle of the
storm, likelihood of formation or intensification, interaction with the Saharan
Air Layer, among other things."
During the mission period, the GlobalHawks will be operated from Wallops where they will depart and fly over
tropical cyclones in the Atlantic, analyzing the storms with six scientific
instruments. The East Coast NASA location makes accessing Atlantic tropical
cyclones easier and allows for more science data collection than if they were
to fly from the West Coast. Each aircraft has an 11,000-nautical-mile range and
can fly for up to 26 hours.
Members of
the HS3 team monitor the transit flight of the NASA Global Hawk 872 aircraft in
the Wallops Flight Facility control center. The aircraft departed the Armstrong
Flight Research Center in California at 9:08 a.m. EDT on August 26.

One Global
Hawk will carry three instruments to examine the environment around the storms,
including the Scanning High-resolution
Interferometer Sounder (S-HIS), the Advanced Vertical Atmospheric
Profiling System (AVAPS), also known as dropsondes, and the Cloud Physics Lidar (CPL).
The second
Global Hawk will focus on the inner region of the storms to measure wind and
precipitation, surface winds, and atmospheric temperature and humidity. It will
carry the High-Altitude Imaging Wind and
Rain Airborne Profiler (HIWRAP) conically scanning Doppler
radar, the Hurricane Imaging Radiometer (HIRAD), and
the High-Altitude Monolithic Microwave
Integrated Circuit Sounding Radiometer (HAMSR) microwave sounder.
The HS3
mission is funded by NASA Headquarters and overseen by NASA's Earth System Science
Pathfinder Program at NASA's Langley Research Centerin
Hampton, Virginia. It is one of five large airborne campaigns operating under
the Earth Venture program.

There is nowhere left for us to go. Israelis from Eilat to Haifa have heard the red alerts blast as Hamas has indiscriminately launched more than one thousand rockets at our cities over the last few weeks. Israelis throughout the entire country have had to stop, run and hide, as the threat of terrorism has unacceptably become a part of our daily lives.
But the most dangerous weapon in Gaza is not what most would expect—it’s not the M-302 rockets that have put millions of Israelis under the direct threat of terror. Instead, it is the vicious ideology of Hamas that is focused on Israel’s destruction and a culture that has been entrenched in Palestinian society for generations that is the biggest threat to all.
Don’t get me wrong, there are certainly Palestinians who are open to peaceful solutions. But the truth is that these voices are drowned out by extremists, and the stranglehold that Hamas, Islamic Jihad and other terror organizations have over the Palestinian people prevents peace from being attained.
Just look at what happened on this week.
With international support, Israel accepted Egypt’s proposed ceasefire, which would have restored quiet by halting all rocket attacks from Gaza and Israel’s responses. This ceasefire would have allowed for at least a temporary calm, and could have opened the door once again for a peaceful diplomatic solution.
But Hamas, which controls Gaza, rejected the ceasefire, as a senior Hamas spokesperson called it, “a joke” in an interview with CNN. Hamas continued its assault on Israel, firing approximately 50 rockets on our cities in a six-hour span as Israel stayed true to the ceasefire and withheld responding. Even today, when the international community called for a five-hour humanitarian ceasefire so that necessary resources could be replenished for the people of Gaza, Hamas fired three mortars into Israel and sent 13 terrorist through underground tunnels to attack Israeli civilians. Luckily, Israel was able to thwart this attack. But this is just further evidence that Hamas continues to perpetrate the suffering of their own people.
We in Israel have taken the steps to show that we are ready for peace, but no country can sit idly by while its civilian population is subjected to terrorist rocket fire. There is nothing to joke about when it comes to saving lives and preventing violence and terror. Israel’s goal with the proposed ceasefires was to restore quiet. But Hamas does not want quiet, so we had no choice but to resume Operation Protective Edge.
Unfortunately, this is what we have come to expect from Hamas. The Palestinian Authority has been unable to address such radical terrorist elements within Palestinian society, and instead PA President Mahmoud Abbas has embraced them and formed a unity government with Hamas. This has afforded Hamas the opportunity to cause this latest escalation of violence and push our peoples further and further away from peace.
Hamas is an internationally recognized terrorist organization that does not have the best interest of its own people in mind, and one that is driven by a hatred of Israel and the Jewish people—not a fight for land or statehood.
When Israel withdrew completely from the Gaza Strip in 2005, we gave the Palestinians the key to their future, as well as sovereignty over what could end up being a future Palestinian state. Hamas took over as the ruling Palestinian body in Gaza, and instead of providing for its people have kept its sole focus on increasing its weapons stock and terror capabilities.
Hamas uses thick walls of cement to create and protect an elaborate underground tunnel system that has been used to infiltrate Israel and commit acts of terror against our civilians, just as they tried to today. Hamas could have improved roads or built homes and businesses or even bomb shelters for Gaza residents, but instead it chose to turn Gaza into a haven for terrorists while ignoring what is best for its own people.
What’s worse is the way Hamas regularly exposes civilian lives in Gaza for the sake of propaganda.
Hamas intentionally stores its rocket launching pads in residential areas and within private homes and public buildings such as hospitals, schools and mosques. Israel has defended itself in the most humane fashion possible. We have used leaflets, personal phone calls, warning shots and widespread announcements that have been publicized internationally, asking Gazans for the sake of their own lives to evacuate certain areas before we try to eliminate terrorists and their units. But Hamas’ “Interior Ministry” has cynically instructed Gazans to ignore these warnings, and has encouraged their people to act as human shields. Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu Zuhri told the terror organization’s al-Aqsa TV network last week that instructing people to serve as human shields was an, “effective policy,” and one that, “reflects the character of our brave, courageous people.” He continued by blatantly stating, “We in Hamas call upon our people to adopt this policy.”
The Palestinian people need to reject Hamas, and rid their society of this evil. In Israel, we understand that our enemies are not the residents of Gaza, but the terrorist organizations that rule it and attack our civilians. Simply put, this is a fight against terror.
Hamas has made it clear that its main objective is the destruction of the State of Israel and the Jewish people. The Palestinian people must recognize this, and choose peace over terror, and coexistence over hatred.
According to the New York times, the oldest woman on this planet, Jeanne Calment of France died in 1997 at the age of 122 and the Ecuador times reported that the oldest woman alive, Ms. Misao Okawa of Japan, celebrated her 116th birthday on March 6 this year.
But according to the information provided by the Chhattisgarh Labor Department under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, Pushpa Sahu, a resident of Abhanpur area in Raipur, is the world’s oldest woman at the age of 732, and she received a cycle under ‘Mukhyamantri Cycle Sahayata Yojana’ (CM Cycle distribution scheme) last year.
According to information obtained by Mr.Sanjeev Agrawal, the president of Rajiv Brigade, under the RTI Act, over 7000 women from Raipur district in the age group of 100-732 years have benefited through Chhattisgarh government’s women welfare schemes.
The two schemes, Mukhyamantri Silai (sewing) Machine Yojana and Mukhyamantri Cycle Sahayata Yojana were initiated in 2008 by the state government to support women laborers working in the unorganized sector under which cycles and sewing machines were distributed to the female members of the identified families.
According to the Chhattisgarh's Labour Department, the state government distributed around 19398 sewing machines and 4936 cycles to the women worker from unorganized sector in Raipur district, but as per its own data, 6231 out of 19398 beneficiaries (sewing machine scheme) and 1368 beneficiaries out of 4936 (cycle scheme) were aged above 100 years including 532 year-old Usha Jamgade.
Mr. Agarwal and his activists friends tried to locate Pushpa Sahu, Usha Jamgade and other over-aged beneficiaries of the scheme but they could not be tracked as their addresses given in the RTI information were “too vague”.
“This data is only Raipur specific. This must have happened in other districts as well. I have asked the state Congress Chief Bhupesh Baghel to coordinate with his district chiefs and get the data related to each district of Chhattisgarh,” Mr. Agrawal told The Hindu and alleged that the information showed something “unlawful” happened during the distribution under these schemes.
However, Chhattisgarh Labor Department has blamed “software glitch” for the “faulty” data.
“It happened because of software discrepancy. We had outsourced the work of data entry. There was a data entry gap which culminated in the process of one RTI activist getting some wrong data,” said Mr. Jiten Kumar, Labor Commissioner of Raipur.
But Chhattisgarh Congress spokesperson Shailesh Nitin Trivedi has demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the Cycle and Sewing Machine distribution.
Union Minister for Law and Justice, Communications and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad called on Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Thursday at the Secretariat here.
Describing his 40-minute-long meeting as "very, very fruitful", Mr. Prasad, who was in the city to launch the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), told journalists that the PMJDY would be a "great game changer" in terms of financial inclusion, with the likely growth of mobile banking. Through the scheme, banks would be "at your door step."
Pointing out that he had explained to the Chief Minister about the scheme, the Union Minster said he had also requested her that Tamil Nadu should avail itself of various concessions being offered for the manufacturing of electronic goods. To this, she had responded "very favourably."
Giving an account of the Central government's another programme of Digital India, Mr. Prasad said this would transform the entire Indian canvas in terms of digitally empowering every Indian with broadband connectivity and national optical fibre network. It had been planned to cover about 60,000 panchayats this year; one lakh panchayats next year and one lakh thereafter annually.
The "ambitious plan" of the Narendra Modi government was to provide broadband connections to all schools and "WiFi" to all the universities and tourist places. He had requested the Chief Minister to ensure that the programme became success in Tamil Nadu as well because "Tamil Nadu itself is a tech-savvy State."

New Delhi, Aug 27: After delivering a controversial speech in the Parliament, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath is embroiled in another controversy following a video that surfaced recently where he is seen making controversial statements against a minority community.
n the video, Adityanath is seen saying: "If they take one Hindu girl, we will take 100 Muslim girls." He is heard saying that Hindu boys should marry Muslim girls and later convert them. In the video he also said they would accept anybody who is willing to convert to Hinduism. Adityanath is seen making the speech infront of many supporters. He says the way Hindu girls are insulted, I don't think civilised society will accept it. Adityanath, however refused to comment on the video and said that he didn't want to make any clarifications on the issue. Meanwhile the Samajwadi Party hit out at Adityanath and questioned BJP's stand on the issue. Muslim clerics too criticised Adityanath for his comments. This is not the first time Adityanath is seen making controversial statements. Earlier in Paliament he made a statement accusing the Congress of working at the behest of Pakistan.

The Redmi 1S is better than Motorola Moto G when it comes to hardware specifications. The camera resolution is higher and the processor, more powerful. All this at a price less than half of Moto G's 8GB version makes the phone a game changer.
Interestingly, we also expect it to make an impact on the sales of Asus ZenFone 4 which comes with decent specifications and costs the same. Indian handset vendors will also feel the heat and need to come up with better devices to keep up.
2. Looks impressive

Xiaomi Redmi 1S looks like a compact version of the Mi 3 albeit with corners that are a little more rounded and red coloured navigation keys on the front (true to the 'Redmi' monicker). The front panel also features a 4.7-inch display and a 1.6MP front-facing camera.
The phone has a removable back cover that wraps around the edges. The black coloured cover has a matte finish and doesn't look frail. There were no creaks and wobbles and the cover fits snugly with the phone. The rear features an 8MP camera lens, LED flash and a speaker outlet in addition to some Mi branding. Removing the back cover reveals the 2,000mAh battery, two slots for regular sim cards (Xiaomi will offer an adapter) and a microSD card slot.
The power and volume rocker keys are conveniently located at the right edge, while the micro-USB port is at the bottom edge. The 3.5mm headset jack sits at the top. The keys offer good tactile feedback.
3. Vibrant display

The phone sports a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display that has Asahi Dragontrail glass protection and three red coloured capacitive touch buttons right below it.
The display is certainly the best we've seen at this price. Colours look vivid and brightness levels were optimum. Sunlight legibility also appeared to be good but we'll need to use the phone a little longer to confirm this. Viewing angles were also good.
Thanks to the higher resolution, images and text appeared to be crisp and sharp. We also found the capacitive buttons and the touch screen to be extremely responsive.
4. MiUI twist to Android

Redmi 1S runs MiUi, an operating system based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. MiUi offers themes, built-in apps and widgets, and advanced settings options enhancing the plain vanilla Android experience. The build is slightly different from the one on Mi 3 but the experience is very similar.
The basic MiUi theme looks good with its colourful icon set, beautiful wallpapers and tweaked settings menus. Unlike stock Android, the phone doesn't include a separate app launcher. App icons and widgets are spread across the home screens. The unified home screen-app launcher style may come across as user-friendly to people who've not used an Android phone before. But it may take some time to get used to if your last phone was an Android smartphone.
The software experience was smooth and we did not notice any stutter while navigating through home screens, launching and switching between apps.
5. Mid-range hardware

Xiaomi Redmi 1S is powered by a 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor with 1GB RAM. It comes with 8GB internal storage and a microSD card slot that supports storage cards of up to 64GB. Connectivity features of the device are 2G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB 2.0. It packs a 2,000mAh battery, and offers dual sim functionality and Dirac technology for sound enhancement.
In our brief hands-on, we did not experience any lag or stutter while launching and switching between apps, and navigating through the UI. We'll have a detailed performance analysis after putting the phone through its paces. We feel that the phone redefines the entry-level segment with its mid-range specifications.
